Various seminars, lectures, exhibitions and field trips are to be held simultaneously, along with presentations of projects and organisations. The Alpine Week sees itself as a forum of encounter between scientists, politicians, conservationists and people who live, work and holiday in the Alps.
The Alp Week 2012 is being held as part of Switzerland's presidency of the Alpine Convention. The 50th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Alpine Convention is also set to take place at the Alpine Week along with the 12th Alpine Conference, at which the environment ministers of the Alpine States are to formulate the guidelines of a joint Alpine policy. This third instalment of the Alp Week is being organised in co-operation with the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps (CIPRA), the Alliance in the Alps network of municipalities, the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps (ISCAR), the Network of Alpine Protected Areas (ALPARC), and the Club Arc Alpin (CAA).
